Fight is a determined effort to do the very best we can do. On the basketball court, fight is measured by hustle: diving to the floor for loose balls, sprinting to fill a lane on a fast break, taking a charge, picking up a missed defensive assignment or stealing the ball from an opposing player.

Charge-for-a-Charge Pledge

These days, taking a charge in basketball is almost a lost art, like a handwritten-letter, but is an action that shows hustle, toughness, and sacrifice. It is a selfless play that is a momentum changer. Taking a charge results in (1) a defensive stop, (2) a foul, and (3) a change in possession. It rallies the team. It's a sign of doing the small things that matter. It's a defensive mentality that shows fight, grit, and determination.

Cheer on your Staples Boys Basketball Team by supporting the Charge-for-a-Charge Pledge with a small gift pledged for charges taken this basketball season. Make your pledge today and before the first game of the season.

Pledge $2, $3, $5, or "other" per charge taken throughout the current basketball season

  • Send in one of the above amounts for your pledge via Venmo.
Please comment "Charge for a Charge" and include the pledge amount and your selected teams: Freshmen, Varsity Development, or Varsity.

  • Your Venmo account will be billed for the season's first charge when you make your pledge. All subsequent charges will be calculated at the end of the basketball season for your chosen teams. Staples Boys Basketball will notify you via Venmo of your total pledge amount in March.
