FCIAC Champions!

In an unforgettable season filled with grit, mental toughness and sheer talent, the Staples High School Varsity Boys Basketball Team has clinched the FCIAC Conference championship for the first time in 62 years. The Wreckers’ triumphant 68-58 victory over Ridgefield marks the school's first FCIAC championship win since 1963.

This was their third straight trip to the FCIAC finals after finishing runner-up to Danbury in 2023 and to Trumbull in 2024. But the 2025 squad, led by a talented group of players and dedicated coaches, marked a turning point in the school’s athletic history.

Under the guidance of head coach David Goldshore, who was named the 2025 FCIAC Coach of the Year, the team’s remarkable journey to the championship game was not without challenges. They had to overcome injuries and tough competitors, showcasing their exceptional teamwork and resilience throughout it all. This resulted in the team winning 20 games this season by an average margin of over 20 points.

A huge congratulations goes out to Matty Corrigan who was named to the FCIAC All-Tournament Team and to FCIAC Tournament MVP Adam Udell, who finished with a game-high 24 points.
