Sam Clachko (‘26) scores 1,000 career points!

On January 17, 2025, Staples Boys Basketball Varsity Captain, Sam Clachko (‘26), crossed the 1,000 point milestone with his 32 point performance against Darien, bringing his total Varsity points scored to 1,001.

Clachko is the first Wrecker to score 1,000 points since 2004 when John Baumann, Staples’ all-time leading scorer, accomplished this feat. Sam, a Junior at Staples High School, is a third year Varsity starter and second year Varsity Co-Captain for the Wreckers.

“Sam represents everything we value here at Staples,” said Head Varsity Coach David Goldshore. “His work ethic, leadership and unwavering commitment to our program is unprecedented. That said, his best is yet to come.”
